The Socialist Workers Party and American Trotskyism
The Socialist Workers Party was founded in 1938 by the American Trotskyists of James P. Cannon's generation, the Communist League of America of 1928 and the Workers Party of 1934 continued, and for half a century it was the main Trotskyist organisation in the United States. This site gathers its material for the Red Mole archives: first of all, edited transcripts of 85 recordings of its leaders and members from the tapes in the Holt Labor Library, about 2 hours of talks, and a guide to the US material online, here and elsewhere.
The US Socialist Workers Party, not the British party of the same name (the International Socialists' successor, 1977), which has no material here. The transcripts are made by machine and edited lightly for print; each one can be played alongside its recording.
